Join us for Europe Week, a celebration of what it means to be a young European shaping the future of Europe! From May 9th, AEGEE Locals across Europe are invited to take part in a Europe Week to celebrate active citizenship, European identity, and youth participation in democracy. We’re launching 7 fun challenges designed to empower you to engage with democracy, connect with fellow Europeans, and amplify youth voices.

Each challenge is simple, creative, and impactful, ranging from social media actions to small events. You can complete them in any order, at your own pace, throughout the month of May. Whether you manage to organise one or all 7, every action helps bring Europe closer to young people and amplify the message of AEGEE-Europe and Y Vote.

🏴 Challenge 1: Celebrate Europe Day

Share a photo on your Local’s Social Media accounts & encourage members to do the same on theirs, celebrating Europe Day! It could be a picture:

  • with all of you and a flag of the EU
  • one in front of a European Institution or Europe Direct office
  • one in front of a local landmark lit in blue
  • one of your members forming a circle like the EU stars
  • use EU-inspired makeup
  • a finger star picture with friends
  • or anything else…get creative!

Don’t forget to tag Y Vote & AEGEE-Europe, and share in the caption what Europe means to you and your members. We will do a competition and ask followers to vote for the best picture!

★ Challenge 2: AEGEE European Bingo

Use our EuroBingo template and encourage your members to complete it and share on Stories, tagging your local, AEGEE-Europe & Y Vote.

☕︎ Challenge 3: Host a Europe Café

Host a Europe Café event with your members and other young people in your city on a key EU-related topic. You can find out more about how to organise one, including presentations on two given topic, on our website. Don’t forget to create a participants list (with signatures from them) and take lots of pictures and videos!

📢 Challenge 4: #MyEUStory

  1. Story (catchy name needed)

Share with us or in a Social Media post how the EU has impacted your life. Some ideas:

  • Did you travel within the EU without a visa/border checks this year? Send or post a picture carousel/collage
  • Did you vote in the European elections? Share your story
  • Did you have members going on Erasmus? Send or post a picture carousel/collage
  • Did your members visit a European institution or join an event that the EU institutions organised? Send a story/picture, or post it
  • How do you feel the EU & European spirit in your home country/city?

If you share it with us at yvote@aegee.eu or by private message (including Voice Message) via our Social Media or here, we will create a collage of stories and share it this month.

    📝Challenge 5: Host a Europe-themed pub quiz

Host a fun and informal Europe-themed pub quiz with your Local and other youth in your city. You can collaborate with another student group, or youth organisation to co-host it.

You can find more on how to organise it, including a Pub Quiz example, on our website.

    🗳️Challenge 6: Use your vote

Organise a mock local voting session on a fun or important topic! Set up a ballot box in your office or at an event and let people “vote”. Don’t forget to announce the voting results, especially online. You can find some ballots as an example here (also as png & editable on Canva).

♪ Challenge 7: Host the Eurovision Watch Party

Host a Eurovision Song Contest watch party with your Local and other young people in your city! If you have elections in your country this month, you could also do a watch party for that.

Whether it’s at someone’s home, a student room, your office or online via group chat/video call, gather to watch the final of Eurovision, cheer for your favorites, and enjoy the music.

    Bonus Ideas:

    • Set up a mini voting system and let your participants vote for their winner.
    • Add to the voting system fun awards such as “Most Dramatic Performance”.
    • Ask your participants to bring snacks from the country they support in Eurovision or they think it will win.
