Brexit I: May visits Brussels to find ‘rien ne va plus’ 😈💩🤫
➡️While Tusk went to Ireland “wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely”, PM Theresa May came to Brussels to find that the EU is not willing to renegotiate the deal. According to Commission President Juncker, only the Political Declaration could be renegotiated - which is not legally binding.
🔜 50 more days to go...

Brexit II: Erasmus+ will finance existing UK-EU mobility in the event of no-deal💏💶
➡️ The EP’s Culture Committee discussed the proposed new contingency measures for the Erasmus+ programme, which establishes that all mobility activities under the current Erasmus+ programme that started before 30 March 2019 will be funded until they are completed. This will include British students, traineeships, apprentices and staff engaged in mobility activities in the EU countries and vice-versa. This decision will not have any budgetary implications, as the overall budget of the programme was already approved under the current long-term budget.
🔜 Fast track: Negotiations with the Council should allow for a swift agreement and the legislation should be published before the date of the withdrawal.

#FutureOfEurope: Finnish Prime Minister calls for a more united EU of concrete actions🔮🇫🇮 🌍
➡️ Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä debated the future of Europe with MEPs last week. He expressed his support for the “kind of EU that proves its credibility through concrete action”. He highlighted that the way to win back people’s trust and fight populism is “by making decisions and by implementing them, at home and here in Brussels.” Mr Sipilä also spoke about recent setbacks in Europe on the rule of law, freedom of press and women’s rights. He emphasised that the EU’s common values should unite the member states.
🔜 The Finnish EU Presidency is next after the current - Romania.
