MEP’s discussed framework to offer crowdfunding services throughout Europe 🕴️💸💻
➡️The Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee discussed the introducing of an EU framework for crowdfunding service providers to enable crowdfunding platforms to offer their services throughout Europe and to unlock early stage financing for businesses. This proposal is part of an action plan to modernise financial services using technology.

Easing cross-border payments 💸🚧🇪🇺
➡️ MEPs in the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee discussed a new law, which aims to ensure that charges for cross-border payments made in euros within the EU are aligned with charges for domestic payments made in the official currency of a member state. At present, charges for cross-border payments in euros from non-eurozone area member states are much higher than between eurozone countries.

Solidarity Fund: MEP’s approved EU aid to 🇬🇷🇵🇱🇱🇹 and 🇧🇬
➡️ The Budgets Committee voted on mobilising €34 million from the EU Solidarity Fund for Greece, Poland, Lithuania and Bulgaria, which were all hit by natural disasters in 2017. This money can be used to support reconstruction efforts and cover some of the costs of emergency services, temporary accommodation, clean-up operations and protecting cultural heritage.
🔜 needs to be confirmed by the European Parliament plenary (Sept 11) and the Council (Sept 4)

EU budget 2019: committee debate on Council's proposed cuts 📖✂️
➡️ The Committee on Budgets looked into a Working Document on the Council’s position regarding the 2019 budget. Competitiveness for growth and jobs is the most affected with cuts of EUR 794 million. Other cuts were requested to, amongst others, Global Europe (EUR 306 million, including EUR 147 million from the pre-accession instrument for Turkey,) and to non-migration and non-security expenditure in Security and citizenship (EUR 35 million).

Single-use plastics: committee debate on Commission’s proposal 🛍️🗑️❗
➡️ The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety went over its draft report on single-use plastics. The Commission’s proposal includes new EU-wide rules targeting the ten single-use plastic products most often found on Europe's beaches and seas, and lost and abandoned fishing gear. These items constitute 70% of all marine litter items. According to the proposed legislation, Member States will be obliged to collect 90% of single-use plastic drinks bottles by 2025.
