Anyone aged 17 or over in the year of the elections can vote if they are Greek citizens or hold the citizenship of another EU country, with legal residence in Greece.

Do I have an obligation to Vote?

Yes, there is a legal obligation to vote, except if you are over 70 or you are abroad.

If you are a Greek citizen voting in Greece

If you live in Greece, check your official home address, because you have to vote at the polling station close to your residence. And guess what?! You don’t have to register, the authorities will do it for you. You can find more details here.

Greece has recently introduced the possibility to vote by mail. To do so, you must register online on this platform. Once you register, the authorities will send you the postal ballot and it has to reach their office back by June 8.

Deadline to register for postal voting: 29 April 2024.

If you are a Greek citizen voting from another EU country

Do you live abroad? Greece will not set up any polling stations abroad. Therefore, you need to register and voteby mail. To register, you have to use this platform.

If you are an Greek citizen voting from a country outside the EU

If you are EU citizen voting in Greece

As a legal resident in Greece, you can of course vote there! Keep in mind that you cannot vote anymore in your country of origin if you choose to vote here. To vote, you have to register in the municipality where you have your official residence, to be on the voting list. You only have to go to the municipality’s office with your ID and fill out a form.
