Do I have an obligation to Vote?

No, there is no legal obligation to vote. But you know what we say…use your anyway!

Where can I vote?

If you are a Polish citizen voting in Poland

If you live in Poland, you can vote at the polling station in the district where your official residence is. You can check here all the available polling stations.

And guess what?! You don’t have to register, the authorities will do it for you. However, you do have to register if you have changed your address recently or if you wish to vote at a different district electoral commission. All you have to do is to submit an application at the municipality where you wish to vote, in writing, by fax or electronically.

Deadline to register: if you wish to vote at a different polling station, you should request to be added to the voters’ list by the 6th June 2024

If you are a Polish citizen voting from another EU country

Do you live abroad?  To vote, you need to register at the Polish consulate in your country of residence. You can find here a list of them. You can even do this orally, in writing, by telephone, telegraph, telefax or electronically (more information here). Afterwards, you can vote in the electoral district created for this purpose (if there are at least 15 voters registered in your area) – you can check them here.

Deadline to register: 4 June 2024

If you are an Polish citizen voting from a country outside the EU

The same rules of registration apply when voting outside the European Union. See above!

If you are EU citizen voting in Poland

As a legal resident in Poland, you can of course vote there! If you have a legal residence in the country, you can request to be added to the voters’ list of the district of your residence. There is no specific deadline, but you have to keep in mind that some time is needed by authorities to process your application – so do not leave it for the last week!
